Best of Italy

Ria and Jessie Go to Italy

Friday April 5 2002 through April 18 2002

Jessica and I toured the Best of Italy tour with Trafalgar and I must say we had a fabulous time.

We saw all of the highlights of Italy. It was our first time there so we wanted to get a taste of the country this way we could decide for ourselves where we wanted to return for an extended visit. This was achieved with great success. The only difficult part is that I enjoyed it all.

The tour was energetic. So, if you are looking for a nice leisurely vacation, this is not for you. We got up early every morning and the day was chock full of touring. We saw it all. Here are some of the hightlights of our trip.

Ria in Rome at the unmistakable Colosseum.

Jessie and Ria at the Trevi Fountain before we made our wish. How beautiful and ornate and OLD!

Jessie enjoying the sun in Sorrento with Mt. Vesuvius in the backround.

We met such nice people on the tour. Jessie with Marion in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa having some fun. This was after we ate some wonderful Gnocci with Pesto and pretty good pizza too.

One of the most magificent sights was the Church in Milano. It was so hugh but had the look of lace. The work on the spires was so delicate and so beautiful. When we turned the corner of the square and got the full view of the church, it took our breath away.

The inside of the Colosseum was incredible. To think of all of the events that occurred there was mind boggling. Gladiators, slaves, performers, people dying and being killed by wild animals - I just got the chills.

We were so very lucky to have had the opportunity to visit the very north of Italy. Here is a sunset over Lake Maggiore. This place was magical because of the serenity and beauty. We took a long walk by the side of the Lake and the villas were spectaculor. We really enjoyed it.

Our farewell dinner in Florence filled with laughter, dance, wine and good friends. By this time we were all friends. I couldn't believe it was almost over. I will never forget the magic.
