Dear Peter,
I am writing to let you know how thrilled the Club is to be able to host this cricket match against a combined team from H.M.S. Cumberland and H.M.S. Brave.

Staten Island Cricket Club was formed in 1872 by a group of ex-officers from the British Armed Forces and has played cricket every year since without exception, making it the oldest continuously active club in the United States.

A key factor that contributed to this unique history is that, during the Second World War, teams from British warships docking at Brooklyn for repairs, were invited to play cricket at Walker Park.

To Her Majesty's Royal navy, welcome back to Walker Park and congratulations on occupying a very special part of our history.

Finally Peter, our heartfelt thanks to you and your organization for all the efforts expended and for helping make this a very special day.

Yours faithfully,
A.K. Charleston-Coad
